'Stranger Things' Elvis Presley Tops Most Popular Halloween Costume Searches on Pinterest

Many popular TV shows of the year serve as inspiration for upcoming Halloween costumes .

A new report from Pinterest shows the top 10 searches for Halloween costumes ahead of the holidays. The most sought-after idea is for costumes inspired by Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things," which kicked off its fourth season this summer. The costumes have been searched 22 times since last year.

Second is an Elvis and Priscilla Presley couple costume, which was searched for by 19 since last year. The idea for the costume can be traced to Baz Luhrmann's buzzy movie "Elvis" from this summer.

Some pop culture Halloween costumes that have long been part of the cultural lexicon are also featured on the listing. Patrick Bateman, protagonist of 'American Psycho', came in third place, with 18 times more interest, and in fourth place were costumes inspired by the movie 'Top Gun', which released its long-awaited sequel this summer.

Convicted felon Anna Sorokin received fifth place on Pinterest rankings, thanks in large part to Netflix “Inventing Anna” series – a dramatized account of Sorokin's real life scams.

Harley Quinn, which has been a popular Halloween costume ever since Margot Robbie starred in the 2016 film "Suicide Squad", got sixth place. The character has been tracked by Avril Lavigne, who has seen interest increase three times since last year.

Pinterest's Best Halloween Costume Ranking was completed with "Dani Hocus Pocus costume", "Maddie and Cassie Euphoria costume" and "Lord of the Rings costumes".
