Strictly Come Dancing 2022: Former England captain Tony Adams joins roster

Old England and Arsenal captain Tony Adams has been announced as the 11th candidate to take part in this year's Strictly Come Dancing.

He is the third candidate bearing the surname Adams to be part of this year's series, following Kaye and Jayde.

They join Molly Rainford, Ellie Taylor, Matt Goss, Kym Marsh, Will Mellor, Ellie Simmonds, Tyler West and Richie Anderson on the line-up.

"To say I'm excited is an understatement," said ( Tony) Adams.

"The lure of glitter and the call of salsa made me trade in my old, worn football boots for a set of Strictly soft.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be given I'm going all out for Strictly Come Dancing's 20th anniversary this year. I can't wait to meet my partner - God help her - and start dancing."

In addition to winning titles with the Gunners and Representing his country at Euro 96 and the World Cup in 1998, Adams was made an MBE after founding a charity to help sportspeople with mental health and addiction issues.
