The journey between York and London could take anywhere from six and a half to three and a half hours Concorde, launched in 1976 was the last supersonic airliner, ending at the end of 2003

Supersonic travel is on its way back, airline boss behind "Son of Concorde stating its ultimate goal is to take anyone anywhere in the world in four hours.

The Overture, manufactured by Boom Supersonic , can reach speeds of 1,300 mph, more than double that of the fastest commercial jets.

That would mean the flight time between Miami and London could be reduced from eight hours and 45 minutes to five, and between New York and London from six and a half to three and a half hours.

Blake Scholl, CEO of Boom Supersonic, also claimed it would mean jet lag is confined to history - because passengers can beat any jet lag.

He said, "If a theft from San Francisco to Tokyo is cut from hours to six hours, you can leave a whole day later.

If you leave Sunda in the morning, you will get there Sunday afternoon which is Monday morning Japan time, make a day of meetings and go home 24 hours after you leave without any time difference.'
