An Irishman questioned over a stabbing and shooting drama at a beach club on the Costa del Sol has been told he can avoid jail after leaving hospital if he pays an 8,500 bond £.

A judge traveled to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella today to question the 32-year-old after he was arrested earlier this week after nearly three days in intensive care with gunshot wounds to chest.

Police made the arrest after concluding from analysis of CCTV and other video footage at the holiday resort's Opium Beach Club that he may have been involved in the altercation that resulted in a man being stabbed and four people being shot.

Two people, including the alleged shooter, a 40-year-old Dutch national arrested after being treated for his stabbing, have already been remanded in custody.

Police are still pursuing the knife-wielding assailant who allegedly assaulted him after an argument in a VIP area of ​​the stage where South African DJ Black Coffee was playing to a packed crowd in the early hours of Monday morning.
