England Test captain crushed 36 of 18 balls, including three sixes, as England chased 161 with 26 balls to spare in a 19 Match in Brisbane.

Liam Livingstone also returned from an ankle injury suffered in The Hundred, hitting 28 of 16 and taking 1-8.

England will face Afghanistan in their first group match on Saturday (12:00 BST).

With the two teams able to use as many of their 15 players as they want, England used eight bowlers, Stokes (1-25) receiving the new ball again, while Sam Curran (1-14), Chris Jordan (1-36) and David Willey (2-22) were also in the wickets.

As Pakistan chose not to use Babar Azam or Mohammed Rizwan as batters, Shan Masood got the best score at the top of the order with 39 out of 22.

Phil Salt had the opportunity to open to sides of Alex Hales, but was played by returning Shaheen Afridi for one, while Hales only managed nine.

Harry Brook impressed again in the middle order, hitting 45 from 24 unbeaten balls, including four sixes, with the Yorkshire batter and Sam Curran (33 from 14) seeing England over line.

Elsewhere, there was a six-point victory for India against Australia, while Aaron Finch's side, chasing 186, lost six wickets on 12 runs at the end of their innings to fail.
