Trailer for Pulpy, Sci-Fi Mystery Caper "They Cloned Tyrone"

"Someone is experimenting on us!" Netflix has revealed a grainy trailer for a film titled They Cloned Tyrone, directed by the writer / filmmaker / sound editor Juel Taylor. This is another first look revealed during their #Tudum promotional event. A series of strange events pushes an unlikely trio (John Boyega, Teyonah Parris and Jamie Foxx) on the trail of a nefarious government experiment in this pulpy sci-fi mystery hug. The three investigate strange occurrences, sending them deep into a nefarious conspiracy that lurks directly under their own hoods. In addition to Boyega, Parris and Foxx, who all look hilarious, the cast also includes J. Alphonse Nicholson, David Alan Grier, Joshua Mikel and Tamberla Perry. Where does this come from?! It looks great !! Like a fun Black Dynamite-esque movie from the 70s mixed with a pulpy sci-fi mystery about a government agency cloning people? It also reminds me of Boots Riley's brilliant Sorry to Bother You. I can't wait to see more pictures because yes, it's going to be good.

A mysterious, pulpy sci-fi hug in which an unlikely trio investigate a series of strange events, alerting them to a nefarious plot lurking directly under their hoods. Fontaine, a neighborhood drug dealer, is shot by his rival Isaac, then is very shocked to wake up in bed the next morning unharmed. He and Slick Charles and Yo-Yo begin to investigate the incident, and their search eventually leads them to a vast underground complex where a government-backed laboratory is performing experiments on the local black population. Realizing he is an artificial clone controlled by Nixon, Fontaine at first feels hopeless, but decides he must stand up to these white institutional overlords for the sake of his neighborhood. They cloned Tyrone is directed by filmmaker Juel Taylor, making his second feature after Actors Anonymous previously, as well as a lot of work as a sound editor for films. The screenplay is by Tony Rettenmaier and Juel Taylor. Produced by Charles D. King, Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Stephen "Dr." Love, Kim Roth, Jamie Foxx. Netflix will start streaming They Cloned Tyrone from December 30, 2022 later this year.
