Despite cuts to rural services, there are still plenty of bus routes that pass through stunning countryside and interesting towns and can form the basis of great day trips and holidays . And let's face it, buses might just be the best way to travel across the country this month, given the restricted train services. For example, Guardian Travel's Phoebe Taplin uses buses as a springboard for her walking odysseys and often the ride is a highlight of the trip itself. And in May, Vic O'Sullivan offered us a description of his favorite bus trip in Ireland.
