Teressa Liane discusses the physics of labor on THE REEF: STALKED

Hello, my friends. Barbara here. Teressa Liane attracted a following for her role in 'The Vampire Diaries,' but now she's into something else with teeth. Featured in THE REEF: STALKED, she and her pals discover they've been targeted by a great white shark off the coast of Australia. In theaters and streaming July 29 Shudder, THE REEF: STALKED is filmed in one of the most scenic areas of mainland Australia. I had the opportunity to speak with the actor about the location, the physical demands of the role, and some random ideas. Having been lucky enough to have visited the area before, I had to start by asking about the location. Check it out!

I've been to Australia before, and while I was watching I realized you were in the Whitsundays, which is such a beautiful area. Would you consider working in these locations? How much does the landscape distract you while you work?

I think before going into filming, it was definitely something that we could enjoy a lot more openly. I mean, pr Firstly, just seeing the visuals alone is so breathtaking, and [there is] just this simple beauty. I think we knew we were very, very lucky to be there. A lot of times the girls and I would be on the kayaks, and we'd stop and say, "How lucky are we?" We knew that. I guess once you're in the scenes and the characters start to take over, you can get lost in them, but it really was a beautiful place to then be able to disconnect and reconnect with yourself."

Do you do a lot of kayaking, surfing and that kind of stuff outside of work?

“No, not particularly...until now. ended up naming my kayak, so his name is Sterling, and I've become so, so attached to him, because once you're out there in the water, he almost becomes this extension of you. this new love now. Every time I see a kayak, I'm like, "I gotta go."

That's pretty awesome. What did you like about the script and your character in particular?

"I think there were several things, but when I first read the script, the main thing I connected to was her strength despite that vulnerability she has there. I've always loved characters who have the two side by side, that kind of vulnerability but the ability for such a deep force that they maybe don't even know themselves. I think that's something thing that I really liked reading the script. But then the more I read it, there were just different aspects of these different characters and how distinct the personalities of the girls were. I loved that it there was that strength in the sisterhood and how much of that was allowed to exist without pushing the drama unnecessarily. I think I really loved how much of a family story there was for her as well. I really tapped into that because it is also very important to me.

What went into the preparation for the role?

“More than other characters, it was definitely more about physical preparation, as well as emotional, but the physical became quite important to me because, I mean, we knew we would be filming in the water We weren't sure exactly how long and what would be expected of us so I made sure I got all the swim training I could just to really complete it so it was at a level that makes sense to the character.

“I wanted her to look like she knew what she was doing there without hesitation, so I did a lot of things. Emotionally, I just really wanted to access all the things she was doing. occupies through...
