Australian police discover a secret bunker hidden under a sofa

A secret bunker was discovered with a shooting range and "an arsenal of poorly stored, very high-powered firearms".

The bunker was discovered in High Wycombe, Perth, Australia, last year, but it wasn't until this week that footage was released.

It was hidden under a decoy couch and video shows it being lifted to reveal a staircase that leads to a firing range with a large amount of guns.

There was also a workbench, suppressors for guns, and bulletproof vests. The bunker stored a variety of bullets of different calibers, including boxes of 50 caliber cartridges for a rifle.

The remarkable discovery even led to a change in the law.

Veteran professional David Letizia pleaded guilty to firearms charges, was fined and lost his firearms license.

Most of the guns were registered and the owner was charged with one count of possession of an unregistered firearm.

"Incredibly, the worst offense this individual would have committed is failing to ask the local council for permission to build the bunker and underground shooting range," said Western Australia's police minister [WA], Paul Papalia.

He continued, "That's how outdated and weak our 50-year-old gun laws are here in WA, and that's why WA Police have asked us to completely overhaul them.
