This is the terrifying moment when a little girl loses her armbands and disappears underwater after jumping into the sea.

Video shared on social media shows Katya Ileri's daughter wearing large inflatable blue and yellow armbands as she is held down on the rails of a boat by a man, believed to be a family member. In the clip, which has gone viral on Instagram, the man can be seen kissing the girl on the cheek before throwing her into the water from the side of a boat.

But as she hits the water, the little girl raises her arms in the air and the armbands flow out, floating on the surface of the water as the child quickly disappears below the surface. At this point the video ends and it is unclear how the girl was saved.

The video has been viewed over 140,000 times on social media, where the Turkish mother shared it with the caption: "A bit of history from today's holiday." Many horrified people commented online, some criticizing the girl's parents, while others said they were concerned about the little girl.

One person wrote, "Never use arm floats on children. Ever." Another added: "A perfect example of a product design that has deteriorated over the years. When I was a kid the water wings would graft onto your arm." Another said, "I don't find this video funny! It's awful."
