Billions of pounds have been spent to strengthen Premier League teams, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea spending lavishly in 2022-23. But which of this season's new signings is earning the most?

You will no doubt be shocked to learn that the top earners who have moved on this season are all playing for the traditional 'big six', with half of Chelsea's 10 highest paid new signings.

We've taken a look at Capology's numbers and put together this top 10 in order of weekly salary.

10. Marc Cucurella - £175,000

For £175,000 a week and a transfer fee of 62 million, Chelsea acquired one of the flops of the season; seeing Cucurella's name on the squad sheet produces groans from Stamford Bridge regulars.

While not helped by Chelsea's rocky season, the full-back has been in and out of the team since Ben Chilwell returned from injury and the former Chelsea boss Brighton, Graham Potter, has been sacked.

Cucurella is not yet completely written off, but it should show massive improvement in the coming months.

=8. Enzo Fernandez – £180,000

Chelsea paid a UK record fee of £106m to sign Fernandez in January. The World Cup winner may not have justified the award yet, but he has had some shining moments and is among the most compelling recruits of the Todd Boehly era.

=8. Manuel Akanji – £180,000

Akanji was one of Manchester City's lowest signings for years, despite the exorbitant weekly wage, but the Swiss international proved to be a wise acquisition.

Smart and tactically disciplined, Akanji quickly became one of Pep Guardiola's favorites and secured a regular starting spot for the reigning Premier League champions.

Chelsea paid Leicester City £70million for Fofana last summer, befitting his status as one of Europe's top young defenders, but he endured a frustrating campaign after picking up an injury against the club. 'AC Milan in October.

The spendthrift Blues have bought Benoit Badashille in the meantime, meaning the 22-year-old has to fight to regain his place in Potter's starting XI.

=6. Anthony – £200,000

Ask a hundred Manchester United fans their thoughts on Antony and you'll get 100 different answers; the Brazil international has had his moments but has yet to demonstrate the consistency you'd expect from an £82million signing.

Nevertheless, Erik ten Hag clearly trusts Antony and a future flowering would not come as a huge surprise.

5. Gabriel Jesus - £265,000

Jesus' move to Arsenal was one of those transfers that made sense on many levels; a quality player looking for a more central role and a growing club that needed more confirmed winners.

The forward has an absolutely vital role to play in the Gunners' surprise title charge.

4. Kalidou Koulibaly - £295,000

Koulibaly is the second highest paid defender in the Premier League - behind Raphaël Varane - but often plays as if his shoelaces are tied together.

The Chelsea man is now a regular bench warmer, not a good reflection of the player and club paying him £295,000 every week to do so.

3. Casemiro - £300,000

Casemiro may be pocketing £300,000 a week, but the love he inspires Manchester United fans with his stellar performances is priceless. The only minor question mark over his sensational debut campaign was his availability.

2. Raheem Sterling - £325,000
