The ultimate inspiration for your next beach holiday has arrived.

An annual ranking of the world's 50 best beaches reveals the best sandstrips of 2022 - and they are truly drool-worthy.

The Wanderlust Guide is from Big 7 Travel, who generated it by analyzing Blue Flag locations, the popularity of beaches on social media and the thoughts of its editorial team.

First place goes to Playa Conchal in Costa Rica, a small beach covered in crushed seashells that is described like "paradise". Turquoise Bay in Australia - offering a "truly wonderful beach experience" - comes second, while "pristine" Grace Bay in the Turks and Caicos Islands is third.

Also making the top five are Siesta Beach in Florida (fourth) and Punta Mosquito in Mexico (fifth). The highest ranked beach in the British Isles is Pedn Vounder in Cornwall. Its "crystal blue water and white sand" propels it to eighth place, with Keem Bay in Ireland in 19th place.
