The Crown cast: the actors of Prince William and Kate Middleton revealed for season 6

An unknown actress landed her first professional acting role playing Kate Middleton in Netflix's The Crown.

Meg Bellamy, 19, has won her first role after submitting self-taped auditions for a casting call broadcast on the networks are also making their professional screen debuts.

All three cast members will star in the series' sixth and final season, which begins filming this fall.

Netflix previously announced that the award-winning semi-fictional drama would end after five seasons.

But creator Peter Morgan changed his mind after it became clear a sixth would be needed to "do justice to the richness and complexity of the story".

The new trio joins a coveted list of stars who have played royals in the drama, including Oscar winner Olivia Colman and Matt Smith.

Season Six will tell the story of Queen Elizabeth II's reign through the early 2000s and recount the aftermath of the Princess of Wales' death.

Bellamy will play a young Kate Middleton, before becoming Duchess of Cambridge, as a student at the University of St Andrews in Scotland e where she met her future husband in 2001.

She reportedly discovered the role just months after leaving school in Berkshire, reported the Daily Telegraph.
