The death of the ski season has been greatly exaggerated.

I have just returned from a snowboarding trip to the resort of Val D'Isere in the French Alps and can happily say that the winter season is alive and well there - with lots of snow from top to bottom.

I was in the ski resort of Les Arcs, to the north, the week before and enjoyed the same good conditions.

< p class="mol-para-with-font">I arrived in Val D'Isère - which, together with neighboring Tignes, offers 300km of pistes - on Friday 6th January to the joyful sight of snow-capped chalet roofs in the village , which sits at an elevation of 1,850 meters (6,069 ft).

Ted Thornhill has just returned from Val D'Isère in France, where he discovered superb snow conditions. The image above is a still from a music video he shot from a chairlift in Val D'Isere on Saturday January 7

I was staying in the very luxurious Chalet Blackcomb, operated by Consensio, and once I got away from its cozy interiors the next day, I took advantage a superb morning of snowboarding with the brilliant guide Antoine from the Oxygene ski and snowboard school.
