It has been exactly 100 years since Walt Disney founded his famous film studio, which produced some of the world's most beloved films. What is less known is the story of the founder's links with a small English village.

A shooting star flies around the Château de la Belle au sleeping woods to the sound of the soaring strings of When You Wish. On a star, as a multi-colored firework explodes and a perfect arc of light forms in the sky before disappearing.

It' is the title sequence at the start of every Disney film since 2006 - meaning that whether it's the live-action The Little Mermaid or the latest animated Elemental film, a tribute has just been paid to a Lincolnshire village with a population of 242.

To find out how and why, I made an appointment with Disney historian Sébastien Durand at St Peter's Church in Norton Disney, Lincolnshire, a building which dates back to the 11th century.

"It is the oldest place in England where you can find a trace of Disney, the history of Walt Disney and his tree genealogical and even its coat of arms," explains the French Disney expert while looking at the Norman pillars and arches.

It is also a church that Walt Disney himself visited on July 7, 1949.
