The Muppets Take Manhattan Comes In 4K With New Frank Oz Commentary Track

As the only “Muppet” movie distributed by Sony, “The Muppets Takes Manhattan” has sadly been absent from the “Muppets” section of Disney+ in the past. Indeed, between the streaming services that pull titles left and right to avoid paying residuals to the hard-working creatives who made them (including the original projects they've already invested hundreds of millions of dollars) and the paperwork of who owns the rights to what, it can even be confusing to know where to find your favorite movies and shows these days. This is where physical media comes in.

Sony has confirmed that "The Muppets Take Manhattan" will arrive on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray on October 24, 2023. The 4K Ultra HD disc of the film has been "remastered in 4K resolution from the original camera negative with Dolby Vision,” and features “all-new immersive Dolby Atmos sound [and] director Frank Oz-approved mixing of 4K visuals and Atmos sound,” in addition to an all-new Oz commentary track. As for the Blu-ray disc, it contains a high definition version of the film as well as special features such as an archived interview with Jim Henson himself and "Muppetisms" featuring Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, Pepe the King Prawn . , and Fozzie Bear.

So put on your tap shoes, lather up that Ocean Breeze soap, and round up all the weirdos at table four. (Which one do you think is table four?) It's time to reclaim the Big Apple with Kermit and all his wide-eyed companions!
