The Sun apologizes for Jeremy Clarkson's Meghan column

T The Sun newspaper says it regrets publishing a Jeremy Clarkson column about the Duchess of Sussex and is "deeply sorry". after the broadcaster wrote last week that he hated Meghan "on a cellular level".

He then requested that the topic be removed from the Sun's website.

The Soleil said the columnists' opinions were their own, but as an editor, "freedom of expression comes with responsibility".

The article became the most complained about by the Independent Newspaper Standards Organization (Ipso)-about the article.

Ipso said it received more than 17,500 complaints at 09:00 GMT Tuesday – 20,800 at 17:00.

In place of the article, the Sun's website now has a copy of a tweet from Clarkson in which he said he was "horrified at 'have done so much harm' and 'would be more careful in the future'.

Oh my God. I rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made an awkward reference to a scene from Game of Thrones and it went wrong with a lot of people. I am horrified to have caused so much harm and will be more careful in the future.
