This Simple Practice Can Help You See Bigger

Limiting beliefs limit thought patterns about yourself, your personal abilities, and your potential for the future. Many people have limiting beliefs hidden in their subconscious that influence how they look, act, and react in the world. Sometimes these beliefs can go unnoticed, creating a cycle that keeps people from achieving their goals.

So what exactly is the impact of limiting beliefs on our lives?

Let's say, for example, that your boss encourages you to apply for a new promotion. Although you may be excited at first, you are convinced that you don't deserve the paycheck. Therefore, this notion prevents you from taking a chance on yourself and seeing your professional goals bigger.

This is just one example of the many ways limiting beliefs can manifest, and I personally dealt with this throughout my early career. I'm going to share how to remove your limiting beliefs to dream bigger and transform your life for the better.

Identify your limiting beliefs

The first step to bringing about change in your life is to create awareness. Consider any limiting beliefs you have around your personal or professional life and write them down in a journal. Research shows that writing helps you remember more information than typing. It can be things like "I don't feel good enough" or "I don't have what it takes to make six figures a year."

Be honest with yourself and don't be afraid to write complex and overly simplistic limiting beliefs. Putting these notions in the forefront of your mind helps you recognize these thoughts and feelings when they arise.

Use the power of meditation

Meditation, when done right, can be a powerful tool to not only help you reduce anxiety, but also clear clutter. The work of breathing has immense power over our brain, body and central nervous system. One of the techniques I use is a practice called Meditational Behavior Synchronicity (MBS) that Natasha Graziano writes about in .

It is a practice in which individuals are able to transition from a beta state to an alpha and eventually delta state, combining an ancient practice with modern neuroscience. This process allows your brain to release and remove limiting beliefs through a meditative state.

There are other meditation practices, like Transcendental Meditation, Vipassana, and more, that you can explore.

Ask the right questions

The right question can change your mindset and allow you to see your situation from a different perspective. One of my favorite exercises, which comes from Peter Thiel, is to ask, "How can I achieve my 10-year goal in the next six months?"

As ridiculous as it sounds, pursuing the question will make you think completely differently. You may realize that the current strategy you have may no longer be relevant and you are limiting your potential.

The take-out sale

Throughout your journey of releasing limiting beliefs, remember that thoughts become your reality. By maintaining radical positivity and reshaping your personal beliefs about yourself, you are influencing all areas of your life for the better.

Removing limiting beliefs isn't just about thinking better thoughts, it's about rewiring your brain to maintain a new normal for your life and personal potential. As a result, you think bigger and soar to new heights you never thought possible.
