THORChain network interrupted due to a software bug

The team said the next steps are to find the source of the nondeterminism, release an update, and reboot the state machine, but there have been no updates since.

The cross-chain exchange and proof-of-linkage network THORChain was down earlier today due to a bug causing "non-determinism between individual nodes".

Around 20:00 UTC, the THORChain team initially tweeted that the devs were aware of a chain outage and were working to find the root cause of the problem.

About four hours later, the team released another update stating that "consensus shutdowns in a distributed state machine originate from sources of non-determinism between individual nodes and prevent registry corruption" .

He said the next steps are to find the source of the non-determinism, release an update, and restart the state machine, and while noting that the first step is close, there is hasn't had any updates since, suggesting the developers are dealing with a bit of a headache.

Consensus stops in a distributed state machine arise from sources of non-determinism between individual nodes and prevent registry corruption.

Next steps:1) Find source of non-determinism2) Update version3) Restart state machine

According to THORChain Explorer, the network still appears to be down at the time of writing. However, token exchange THORSwap has provided its own update, noting that its platform is still working.

"Update on the current shutdown of THORChain Swaps/LP. Funds are safe. Ethereum and ERC-20 swaps are fully functional on ThorSwap via DEX Aggregator. Hold on tight, THORChain developers are on the case !" he wrote.
