Some say the golden age of train travel died out years ago in Britain.

I would say he is still with us. Just. 

Mainly thanks to the country's two overnight services: the Caledonian Sleeper from London Euston to the Highlands (a service I reviewed and featured as the UK competitor for the world title). greatest rail journey) and GWR's Night Riviera from London Paddington to Penzance via Taunton, which I discovered on a trip to the tip of Cornwall offers romance and railcar thrills (Mark III).

This journey takes place along one of the most picturesque lines in the country, passing through some of Isambard Kingdom Brunel's finest building works - including a particularly stunning bridge - the beds are incredibly comfortable, the staff are decidedly shredded, and there's an all-night bar.
