Three looks that caught our eye at the People's Choice Awards

Shania Twain, Olivia Wilde and Lizzo wore some of the most spectacular looks at the ceremony on Tuesday night.

The People's Choice Awards are the only major awards show in which prizes are decided by online votes from the public - and the categories cover everything from TV shows to talk show hosts and podcasts to social celebrities. Sort of a curtain-raiser for Hollywood's awards season, its red (or in this case, grape-purple) carpet is a much looser affair than, say, the Oscars, Grammys, or Emmys, with a lot more skin, rhinestones and skin-tight velvet.

Here are three looks that caught the eye on Tuesday night.

She's still the one

Shania Twain, who won the People's Choice Music Icon award and performed at the ceremony, paid a bold tribute to one of her most famous fashion looks: the animal print outfit she wore during the hitchhiking through the desert for the 1998 music video for "That Don't Impress Me Much."

Twenty-four years later, Mrs. Twain arrived at the awards in a sheer black paneled dress custom-made by Rodarte, covered – in leopard print, of course – with a strapless bra and a dramatic hood that covered her candy pink hair (and which she waved energetically spikes on the red carpet).
