New poll gives Labor 25 point lead on the Conservatives, putting Liz Truss on track for an "erasure" in the next general election.

The Savanta ComRes survey is the latest in a series of polls showing a collapse in support for the Conservatives following Kwasi Kwarteng's disastrous mini-budget.

The pollster said Labor's lead was the company's largest ever and could keep the Tories out of power for a generation.

< p>This would likely result in a comfortable three-figure majority for Sir Keir Starmer's party if confirmed in the elections scheduled for 2024.< /p>

The poll of over 2,000 voters, conducted during the early days of the Conservative Conference in Birmingham, puts Labor at 50% (up seven since a similar poll the week before), Labor Conservatives at 25% (down four) and Liberal Democrats at 11% (down one).

Savanta ComRes director of policy research Chris Hopkins said: are now becoming commonplace, and this 25-point lead is the largest in Savanta ComRes history.

"If this happened in a general election, the Conservative Party could be pretty much wiped out, and Labor would have such a lead that it could put the Conservatives out of power for generations. "

Labour has maintained a 12-15 point lead over the past few weeks. But their advantage skyrocketed following Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng's mini-budget on September 23, when he sparked fury by handing over the lion's share of his £45billion tax giveaway to the wealthiest of the company.

Savanta ComRes surveyed 2,113 UK adults between 30 September and 2 October.
