Tory's New Fragrance Layers, Sneaker Surgeon Teams Up With Lanvin, President Haider

MORE LAYERS: Tory Burch is expanding its fragrance assortment.

The designer, who is executive chairman and chief creative officer of her eponymous brand, presents a new format to its range of perfumes. Called Essence of Dreams Layering Oils, the line will debut Friday at Tory Burch stores and online, in addition to Nordstrom. Each of the three scents is $60.

The launch comes a year after Burch introduced the Essence of Dreams fragrance collection, the first fragrances brand scented. Shiseido licensee. “We created layered oils to give people a new way to think about perfume. I wanted to capture the purest form of vetiver, sandalwood and rose. They are luxurious and beautiful to wear alone or layered to enhance another scent you love,” Burch said in an email.

All three oils are designed to be layered or worn alone. Essence of Rose blends Bulgarian rose, recycled rose water, bergamot, morning dew accord and musks; Vetiver Essence contains notes of Madagascar vetiver, ambrette absolute, bergamot, black pepper and coriander seeds; Sandalwood essence combines notes of Australian sandalwood, balsamic and cedar.

These notes are each suspended in a blend of avocado oil, vitamin E and olive oil, and housed in Bottles designed by Malin Ericson.

“I've definitely seen a change in the way people approach perfume. It's not about wearing the same one for years, it's about experimenting with different scents depending on your mood,” Burch continued. -JAMES MANSO
