Tottenham seek urgent clarification after FIFA extended Paratici's worldwide ban 'without notice'

Tottenham have contacted FIFA for urgent 'further clarification' after Fabio Paratici's ban was extended worldwide 'without notice' to the club.

Paratici was one of 11 people banned by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in January after Juventus were found guilty of alleged offenses related to historic transfer deals.

The Bianconeri dropped 15 points in Serie A as part of the punishment, with Paratici and Juve denying any wrongdoing and filing an appeal for the initial sanctions with the Italian Olympic Committee.

Paratici was handed a 30-month ban by the FIGC but continued his role with Spurs due to his sentence which fell only within the jurisdiction of Italian football's governing body.

But FIFA confirmed on Wednesday that these FIGC sanctions have been extended worldwide, with Tottenham demanding immediate clarification on the bans on their Chief Football Officer Paratici.

"Following media reports regarding the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee to extend worldwide the sanction imposed by the FIGC Federal Court of Appeal on Fabio Paratici on January 20, 2023, the club has makes urgent requests to FIFA," read a statement from the club.< /p>

"FIFA replied to us at the end of the afternoon in writing, informing us today, Wednesday March 29, 2023, that a decision has been taken by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee to extend the sanction FIGC worldwide.

“This committee deliberation was taken without notice to any of the parties involved. We urgently seek further clarification from FIFA on the details of the extension and its waiver of the FIGC sanction.”

The announcement came just a day after Paratici spoke to club media and said sacking Spurs head coach Antonio Conte was the "right decision for everyone".< /p>

Paratici has given full confidence to caretaker boss Cristian Stellini, who will be in charge until the end of the season, and Spurs have sought to clarify the interview which took place before any knowledge of FIFA sanctions .

The statement added: "We would like to clarify that when Fabio conducted the interview on the club channels yesterday, neither he nor the club had any indication that this decision was made by FIFA, based on the fact that the FIGC sanction was taken on January 20, 2023 and remains subject to appeal on April 19, 2023.

"We will update this question in due course."
