Brendan Rodgers wants a solution to the Wesley Fofana situation as soon as possible, with the defender not currently playing for Leicester or training with their first team.

Fofana missed again last night as the Foxes beat League 2 side Stockport County on penalties to advance to the Carabao Cup third round.

Rodgers said afterwards: "Of course if he [leaves], the sooner the better, because it might allow us to work [in the transfer window].

"He's been training with the Under-23s so he can get fit for football and keep working. It's so important at this stage to control all sorts of distractions that might be present.

"He's a good boy, it's just been a really difficult situation for him. I've had a few times in my career where there are players who can deal with it, deal with it, keep going, want help their teammates. There are others who can't stand the distraction.

"These guys are paid well. The least you can do is show up [for training]. And if you don't, with all due respect, you can't just think that you can enter our group."
