Betrayal Trailer: Charlie Cox to lead a series of spy thrillers for Netflix

More than four years after Daredevil ended its three-season run, Charlie Cox is finally making his return to Netflix as he directs the streamer's next spy thriller series, Betrayal. The official Betrayal trailer for the limited drama has been revealed, featuring our first images of Charlie Cox's character, Adam Lawrence.

In the video, an inexperienced MI6 agent is unexpectedly chosen to become the agency's head after his mentor nearly dies in an assassination attempt. However, when his complicated past, involving a Russian spy, is revealed, he will be caught up in a plot that will involve him as a double agent.

Described as Bodyguard meets John Le Carré, Treason is written and produced by Bridge of Spies' Matt Charman. Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, Black Widow) and Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones) joined Charlie Cox and Ciarán Hinds.

"The miniseries centers on Adam Lawrence, trained and groomed by MI6, whose career seems set," reads the synopsis. “But when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life. A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam, and his wife, Maddy; three people trying to expose each other's secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, while clinging to their personal lives and those they love most."

Foz Allan and Valery Ryan are executive producers for Treason, with Louise Hooper (The Witcher) heading up the project. It is a production of Binocular Productions.

The series will be available to stream on December 26.
