Tribeca's lineup of shorts includes Alden Ehrenreich's directorial debut, as well as films by Tom Holland and Troy Kotsur

The 2023 Tribeca short film lineup has been unveiled and features a slew of talent.

Ranging from narrative, documentary and animated shorts, as well as music videos, the 2023 shorts lineup features 76 selections in total, with 62 shorts in competition, eight music videos and six special shorts, from 91 filmmakers spread over 25 countries. There will also be 48 world premieres, three international premieres, two North American premieres, one US premiere and 22 New York premieres.

The four categories of programming (narrative shorts, short documentaries, animated shorts and music videos) are spread over 12 thematic programs highlighting love, family relationships, LGBTQ+ stories, "expressions black freedom", Latin America, resilience, etc. .

Presented by OKX, the 2023 Tribeca Festival runs from June 7-18. This year's festival saw a record 8,096 attendances.

Lineup highlights include “Last Call,” which is about a desperate mother who needs to reconnect with her son, played by Tom Holland. The short is directed by his brother, Harry Holland. Alden Ehrenreich makes his directorial debut with "Shadow Brother Sunday" about an unlucky musician who returns home the day of his younger brother's movie premiere to steal his computer and sell it to the paparazzi.

"House of the Dragon" breakout Emma D'Arcy directs "For Those in Trouble," a relationship drama set against the backdrop of impending societal collapse, written and directed by Alex Lawther. Jillian Mercado plays an international model in the romantic comedy "My Eyes Are Up Here" who is on a mission to get the morning after pill.

Misty Copeland's "Flower" has its world premiere as part of a special event at Spring Studios. "Flower" is a poignant interpretation of community, belonging and intergenerational equity, directed by Lauren Finerman, in which Copeland stars and serves as producer. This film also marks the return to performance for Copeland after a multi-year hiatus. After the screening, the first event will feature live performances by Copeland co-star Babatunji Johnson and a group of New York City hip-hop dancers choreographed by legendary choreographers Rich + Tone Talauega, who also worked about the film, and a Q&A with Copeland and the filmmakers.

Winners of the Tribeca Festival awards for Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, and Best Animated Short are eligible for consideration in the Oscar Shorts category.
