Troublesome youth. FIFA deprives Peru of the organization of the U-17 World Cup for the second time

April 4 – Peru have been stripped of hosting the U-17 World Cup for the second time by FIFA who said there was not enough time to "secure the required investment and complete the necessary work" with the Peruvian government.

Peru should have hosted the tournament in 2021 but the finals were delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This is the second week in a row that FIFA must withdraw the rights to organize a World Cup by age group from a nation.

Fifa last week withdrew the U-20 World Cup from Indonesia after the country's politicians protested Israel's participation in the tournament scheduled for May.

Argentina have reportedly said they would be ready to host the U-20 tournament. However, FIFA may decide to keep both tournaments within the confederations to which they have been allocated, with one of the Gulf nations within the AFC potentially hosting the U-20s, while Argentina could take on provides accommodation for U-17s.
