Two in five people with disabilities can't heat their homes this winter and a third have been forced to cut back on food spending, new research shows.

A 44% disability income gap means people with disabilities are more likely to have less money than the rest of the population.

The Resolution Foundation report used a YouGov survey of approximately 8,000 working-age adults, 2,000 of whom had a long-term illness or disability, to compare the experiences of people with disabilities and non-disabled in the face of the cost of living crisis.< /p>

The study found that people with disabilities are almost three times more likely to experience material deprivation than the rest of the population (34% vs. 13%).

Nearly half (48%) of adults with disabilities say they had to reduce their energy use this winter, compared to almost a third (32%) of people without disabilities.
