Researchers asked nearly 1,300 people who had traveled from a UK airport during this period how long they had waited in line at security. Some even reported missing flights due to long security lines.

A survey for the consumer group Which? reported that Leeds Bradford Airport passengers waited an average of 35 minutes at West Yorkshire Airport between February and August.

However, more than a quarter (27%) of Leeds Bradford users said they waited over an hour to go through security. In August, the airport installed electronic screens providing passengers with live updates on estimated wait times.

Travelers reported security queues lasting over an hour at nine airports, including Bristol (17% of respondents), Birmingham (11%) and Manchester (8%).
