Under fire from Man Utd boss Ten Hag 'a top manager', says Liverpool star Salah

Mohamed Salah thinks under-fire Manchester United coach Erik ten Hag is 'a top manager', while Liverpool forward concedes there's already 'a bit of pressure' on Liverpool ahead of Monday's clash with former rivals.

Jurgen Klopp's Reds travel to Old Trafford this weekend in search of their first victory of the new Premier League campaign, having been held to a halt so far by Fulham and Crystal Palace.< /p>

Liverpool are still in a better position than United, with new manager Ten Hag suffering back-to-back defeats to Brighton and Hove Albion and Brentford.

United's only goal under Ten Hag to date was an own goal from Brighton, while their defensive failures were ruthlessly exploited.

Despite these issues, Salah still believes United present a formidable proposition for Liverpool, shutting down suggestions that their meeting could be easy for the visitors while highlighting Ten Hag's pedigree.

"I don't see this game like that because it's still a top team with top players," the striker told Sky Sports. "They didn't get off to a good start, but they want to win against us.

"So from my side, I have too much respect for them, and I'm sure they want to fight with everything they can to win this match as well. It won't be easy and I don't don't think you'll score one, two or three goals.

"I know it's going to be a really tough game. They have top players, they have a top coach, so it's not going to be easy at all."

Liverpool could be seven points behind champions Manchester City by the time they play on Monday, with Pep Guardiola's men traveling to Newcastle United on Sunday in pursuit of a third straight win.

And even at this early stage, Salah acknowledges it would be a big gap, even if he backs the Reds to recover.

"It might be a bit under pressure if we are seven points behind City, but I think it's too early to think about that," Salah said.

"Last season we were down about 10 or 11 points, and we came back. So it's too early to think about that."
