A senior Kremlin politician has said that all US states wishing to secede and join the Russian Federation will be considered.
State Duma Deputy Alexander Tolmachev was responding to an online poll that showed some Americans want their state to become independent.
He later said that the US was starting to “break down”, while the EU was “full to bursting”.
This comes after President Vladimir Putin ordered the relentless shelling of several Ukrainian cities this week, including the capital Kyiv, killing at least 26 people.
This is Moscow's largest air offensive since the invasion began in February.
Last month, the despot illegally annexed four Ukrainian regions and vowed to use “all power and means” at his disposal to defend them.

These were Donetsk and Luhansk in eastern Ukraine and Kherson and Zaporizhzhia in the south.
Ukraine and Western governments called the votes fake, illegitimate and conducted at gunpoint.
Referring to US states joining Russia, the Tolmachev Podmoskovye Segodnya news site: "Such moves are a signal that the citizens of the United States are dissatisfied with their leadership and are ready to take extreme measures, until secession, if America's present policy continues."
