American trailer for Jerzy Skolimowski's Mesmerizing Donkey 'EO'

EO Official Trailer

"Don't Scare Him." Janus Films has unveiled an all-new US trailer for the epic, psychedelic and unforgettable adventure of a donkey named EO. Yes, it's THAT "donkey movie" that premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. It also performed at TIFF and will next screen at the New York Film Festival. The Polish film follows a donkey who, on his travels, encounters good and bad people, experiences joy and pain, exploring a vision of modern Europe through his eyes. With his first film in seven years, legendary director Jerzy Skolimowski (Deep End, Moonlighting) makes one of his most free-spirited and visually inventive films to date, following the travels of a donkey nomadic gray named EO. It's like you've never seen it!! "EO's journey speaks to the world around us, an equine hero boldly pointing out the ills of society and serving as a warning of the dangers of neglect and inaction, all while seeking freedom." He won a Jury Prize at Cannes, but above all he won the hearts of many because the donkey is now a hero of cinema. It is also Poland's submission to the Oscars this year. Definitely worth a visit - even if you're not a big fan of donkeys. Enjoy.

After being removed from the traveling circus, the only life he has ever known, donkey EO begins a trek through the Polish and Italian countryside, experiencing cruelty and kindness in equal parts, while observing the follies and triumphs of mankind. During his travels, EO is both aided and hindered by a cast of characters that includes a young Italian priest (Lorenzo Zurzolo), a countess (Isabelle Huppert), and a rowdy Polish soccer team. Loosely inspired by Robert Bresson's Random Balthazar, and featuring immersive and breathtaking cinematography by Michal Dymek, with sound score by Pawel Mykietyn, the film places the viewer in the perspective of its four-legged protagonist. EO em> is directed by award-winning veteran Polish filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski, director of numerous films including The Departure, Deep End, The Adventures of Gerard, Moonlighting, Torrents of Spring, Four Nights with Anna, Essential Killing and 11 Minutes previously. The screenplay is written by Ewa Piaskowska and Jerzy Skolimowski. This premiered at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival in main competition this year, and it's also playing at the New York Film Festival. Sideshow + Janus Films will release Skolimowski's EO in select US theaters (NY only) beginning November 18, 2022 - and will open in Los Angeles on December 2. Visit the official movie website.
