Vladimir Putin's New Submarine 'Can Swallow Whole Cities With Radioactive Tsunamis'

The latest Russian Navy submarine is the largest to be built in the last 40 years and weighs 30,000 tons, in addition to be equipped with nuclear torpedoes

The Russian Navy has a new super-submarine capable of destroying coastal cities.

The 600-foot-long Belgorod weighs 30,000 tons and is equipped with six 80-foot-long Poseidon nuclear torpedoes.

Its astonishing size makes the Belgorod the largest submarine to be built in the last four decades, while the Poseidon is the largest torpedo ever built in the world and is twice the size of a missile ballistic launched by a regular submarine, the Daily Star Reports.

The destructive torpedoes are said to have a 100 megaton nuclear payload and are so powerful they could cause a massive tsunami and radioactive fallout, which "would create vast areas of radioactive contamination, rendering them unusable for military, economic or others for a long time".

Belgorod will also carry a Klavesin-29-M autonomous underwater vehicle

A report states that the Poseidon torpedoes do not rely on satellites and that the fact that they can "literally pass under missile defenses makes them a slow but inevitable death".

They will primarily be used as a nuclear deterrent.

Talking about the submarines in his fleet a few months ago, President Vladimir Putin claimed that they had "virtually no vulnerabilities" and carried a "massive nuclear prescription".
