Hours before the Tory leadership roundups kick off tonight in Eastbourne, voters in the sunny seaside resort have had their say in the battle for No 10.

Denise Tokeley, 69, carer, said: 'This Rishi, he has so much money he doesn't understand good people - I don't think he understands how ordinary people live.

"He's really rich - does he really understand how pensioners, disabled pensioners live? The cost of electricity? Because he doesn't have to think about it.

"Rishi does not live in our world.

"He and Liz Truss say they'll give us this, that and the other, but that means nothing to them."
