Watch: Award-winning short film 'Funfair' is set in the streets of Tehran

Funfair Trailer

"Aren't we going to the carnival?" No matter where you live on this planet, life isn't easy when you don't have money. This is the great struggle with humanity, because we still haven't managed to solve this problem for all. Funfair is an award-winning short film from the streets of Tehran, Iran, directed by filmmaker Kaveh Mazaheri. This originally premiered in 2019 and he later released his first-ever feature film, titled Botox, in 2020. The film won a Special Mention for Best International Short Film at the Palm Springs Shortfest 2020. After years of waiting and playing on the festival circuit, it's available to watch online. In Funfair, Majid is a man in financial difficulty who invents a scheme to improve the life of his wife Sarah: pushing her in front of a car to collect insurance money. With Soroush Saeidi, Sonia Sanjari and Artin Rabiei. It reminds me of Ramin Bahrani's remarkable independent film, Man Push Cart. Definitely worth watching for 15 minutes.
