Watch live Michael Gove outline the Conservative government's actions he announces he will take to meet his 2019 manifesto commitment to build one million homes.

The housing minister is also expected to announce planning reforms and how the government will prioritize housing construction in inner city areas.

Rishi Sunak said ahead of the announcement: "Today I We can confirm that we will deliver on our clear commitment to build a million homes during this Parliament.

"This is a beautiful new home for a million single families in every corner of our country.

"We will not do this by concrete campaigning - our plan is to build the right homes where they are most needed and where there is local support, in the heart of major UK cities.

However, two weeks ago a panel of cross-party MPs agreed warned Tory ministers were unlikely to deliver 300,000 new homes a year after the Prime Minister made the advice target rather than mandatory.
