For more than a year, Europe has been in turmoil.

A war caused by the invasion of one country by another. It was almost unthinkable just a few years ago.

But it has become a reality: one man's thirst for power has wreaked havoc on an entire continent.

And it goes on forever. Every day the world is getting closer to the brink.

The UK government is to be applauded - the entire political system - for its determined stance alongside Ukraine.

And the British people should be proud too. On call, we opened our doors to those fleeing bullets and bombs.

We have seen leaders pacing the international stage and seen the horrific scenes from the front line...the missiles, the tanks.

Human lives were destroyed in the blink of an eye.

From normal life to devastation: Homes and livelihoods are gone.

It is almost impossible to imagine being a child in Ukraine today. One minute, school, friends, hopes, dreams. Security. The next day, life changed forever.

Bomb shelter, anti-aircraft sirens, constant fear. These young people have lost family and friends. Once clear futures lie in hopeless ruin.

While it is of course vital to get arms to the frontline, the greatest responsibility of the international community - for the UK - is to get these children out. To make sure they are safe.

Today we offer you a story of the children of this war. It's shocking and heartbreaking.

But there is also hope.

Vyacheslav fled Donetsk under Russian control and rebuilt his life.

Dreaming, he says, is the answer. You dream what you want, so it will eventually happen.

It speaks of peace, a peace that we all dream of.

It will happen. Finally.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of activist mother Charlotte Caldwell, parents of children with chronic pain are about to see their little ones get some relief.

She fought to make medical cannabis free for children with severe epilepsy to help her own son, Billy, but now others will benefit.

There's still a long way to go, but it's a step in the right direction. It is progress. This is hope.

It was a long and difficult fight.

But every second was worth it.
