Wendell & Wild Trailer: A Familiar But Unique Stop-Motion Teen Horror From Two Big Names

The cool thing about "Wendell & Wild" is that the story is quite unique and special, while being wrapped in a fairly familiar container. When watching the new trailer, it's hard not to be directly hit with some serious nostalgia. Selick is responsible for two culturally significant and heavily stylized stop motion feature films in the past: the classic, legendary and iconic "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (yes, in my opinion, those adjectives are worth used) and the terrifying story of " Coraline." This new film seems to integrate the aesthetics of these two films into a familiar, but quite different world.

I, for one, am thrilled to see the full expanse of these worlds collide and how "Wendell & Wild" will utilize its distinctive qualities - like a delinquent teenager just trying to navigate her "Hell Maiden" life, how cool? – to bring us something that hits the high points of our sentimentality while feeding our need for new and well-rounded original horror and original animation. Plus, who wouldn't want to attend a Key and Peele reunion?

The film stars Lyric Ross as Kat alongside 'American Horror Story' alum Angela Bassett, 'Everything Everywhere All At Once' star James Hong, Ving Rhames , star of "Pulp Fiction", and Sam Zelaya, with Keegan -Michael Key and Jordan Peele round out the cast as the voices of Kat's demon duo.

"Wendell & Wild" will be available to stream on Netflix in the US on October 28, 2022.
