Labor is celebrating two victories against the Conservatives in the Kingswood and Wellingborough by-elections, but that success could be short-lived as a third battle looms in Rochdale.

Keir Starmer's party overturned majorities of 11,220 and 18,540, securing the government's ninth and tenth defeats in by-elections to the current parliament and securing its second biggest setback in the history of the conservatives.

However. , an anti-Semitism row which forced him to abandon his candidate for another by-election in Rochdale this week remains a source of concern.

Labour candidate Mr Azhar Ali has sparked controversy anger after apparently stating that Israel had been warned of the October 7 attack and allowed it to happen.

Voters will go to the polls in the Rochdale by-election on February 29, the outcome of which is now uncertain following Labor's decision to drop its support for Mr Ali.

Here are the 11 candidates running in the election:

Azhar Ali - Independent, formerly Labor

Azhar Ali has been at the center of an extremely eventful week for the Labor Party. He was withdrawn from party support after he reportedly made anti-Semitic comments at a Lancashire Labor Party meeting.

At first, Labor insisted Mr Ali would remain the Labor candidate in Rochdale and Electoral Commission rules require it. It is anyway too late for Labor to replace their candidate. However, after further comments came to light, the party withdrew its support.

If elected, Mr Ali will sit as an independent MP and will not receive the party whip. The move means Labor will also have to find a new candidate to run for the seat at the next general election...
