Woman accused of rape and murder of 12-year-old schoolgirl found in suitcase in Paris

A 24-year-old woman has been charged with murder, rape and torture after allegedly slitting the throat of a French schoolgirl and placing her body in a suitcase.

Dahbia B, a homeless woman from Algeria, appeared before investigating judges in Paris on Monday and was charged with the horrific murder of 12-year-old Lola Daviet.

Haunting CCTV footage from last Friday shows both the suspected murderer and his victim next to the building where Lola lived.

Lola's mutilated body was later found near the building, in the city's 19th arrondissement, where she lived with her parents, Delphine and Johan Daviet.

They had reported her missing around 4pm on Friday, after fearing she had been kidnapped because she had not returned home from school - which is around the corner.

Her mother said, "Lola knows that on Fridays you go straight home because we are going to Béthune, the family village, a three-hour drive north of Paris."

Johan decided they should check their building's CCTV when they saw their 12-year-old daughter enter the building with a stranger.

Lola's mother wrote on Facebook that their daughter was "last seen with a girl we don't know at our residence".

Lola's body was later found around 11 p.m. that night by a homeless man.

His body was oddly bound and gagged inside the suitcase, with the numbers 1 and 0 scrawled across his chest.
