A woman escaped from Iran after the barbaric regime brutally whipped her husband into a bloody mess and threatened to hang him for being a DJ.
Leila Eftetahi, 32, fled the conservative pilgrimage town of Mashad in northeastern Iran in 2015 with her partner Ali, 31, a former soldier turned underground DJ and breakdancing teacher, both illegal in the Islamic Republic.< /p>
While there is a thriving underground music scene in Iran, much of it takes place in secret, with hosts only inviting people they trust and know.
Certain types of Western music, such as rock, R&B, metal, and rap, are completely prohibited.
The sentences for playing music are less severe, but the cops who arrested Leila's husband chose to increase his sentence by charging him with drinking alcohol, she tells the Mirror.
And according to Iran's interpretation of Sharia, the third alcohol offense is punishable by mandatory execution, usually by hanging.
"We have two types of charges," Leila told the Mirror from her new home in Germany.
"Firstly they call it whipping but it's very soft and more like a performance where they don't beat you up," she said.
"Alcohol is as hard as they can get."
If convicted again, Leila's husband could face the death penalty (Picture:
