A woman was left heartbroken and homeless after traveling to Kenya in hopes of reuniting with her family - but was instead abruptly rejected.

Peris Newlove has vowed not to give up until her mum Rose is back in the UK, after she found herself stranded overseas with no permanent place to stay and coughing up blood when on her medication have run out.

She finally returned home after her ordeal thanks to generous strangers who "saved her life".

Rose, 50, traveled to her native country in East Africa in 2019 with just enough money for her plane ticket.

She had hoped to live on her grandfather's farm, but Peris claims her mother was shunned by her relatives because of her lack of money, reports LeedsLive.

Rose, who underwent surgery after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer and now needs lifelong treatment, also ran out of prescribed medication and was coughing up blood.

His daughter Peris previously said, "It's a very difficult time for me because my mother Rose decided to go back to Kenya, but she found herself in a bad place.

"She is homeless, has no food or shelter and can only contact me via her phone when she can get help from strangers."

After creating a fundraising page, she managed to raise enough money to bring her mother home after three years.

Rose landed in the UK on Wednesday and was reunited with her daughters and two grandchildren whom she had not met in person, including Peris' daughter who will turn one this weekend.
