A woman responded to the arrest by police in her car by showing them a card marked "white privilege".

Mimi Israelah claimed she was driving to a pizzeria in Alaska, USA, when she was arrested for swerving through traffic.

But instead of showing them her driver's license, she pulled out the card, much to the amusement of the officers.

"When I saw my White Privilege card, I gave it to him if it's okay," she wrote in her caption.

"He laughed and called his partner. This is the first time they've seen a White Privileged [sic] card."

The card had the message "White Privilege Card Trumps Everything" written on it.

An investigation has now been opened into the incident and the officers' response.

Israelah says she was not fined following the encounter, although it is unclear whether any further action was taken by the police.

Anchorage Police Spokesperson Sunny Guerin said, "According to the City Attorney's Office, we are unable to answer these questions as the incident is currently under investigation. an investigation and it concerns personnel matters."
