Wonder Woman 3 canceled as Gunn and Safran plan DCEU future

Wonder Woman 3 by Patty Jenkins is no longer advancing at Warner Bros.

As reported by THR, DC Universe directors James Gunn and Peter Safran have decided the film doesn't fit their current vision. The duo are reported to have told Jenkins, who recently submitted their screenplay co-written with DC mainstay Geoff Johns, that they are not moving forward with their current form. Jenkins previously directed and co-wrote both Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984.

The news comes after a report that Black Adam 2 and a potential standalone Hawkman movie were in development at Dwayne Johnson's Seven Bucks Productions (although THR disputes this and says a sequel is "unlikely") and that the release date of The Flash had been brought forward by a week.

The next DC Universe release will be Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which will be released on May 17, 2023. It will be followed by The Flash featuring the troubled Ezra Miller, Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The future is currently uncertain as Gunn and Safran decide on their 10-year plan for the DCU.
