Xilam presents the CGI burlesque comedy "Karate Sheep" at the Rendez-Vous d'Unifrance

The French animation group Xilam presents an ambitious program at the Rendez-vous Unifrance with French cinema in Paris, with a strong emphasis on comedy, including her first slapstick CGI comedy for kids, "Karate Sheep."

The show is about an enthusiastic sheep, Trico, who wreaks havoc on his flock by sharing new objects and ideas, with a wolf waiting to pounce.

It is created by Hugo Gittard, and directed by Cédric Dietsch and Renaud Martin

The series was pre-presented by Super RTL and Netflix and is streaming on Super RTL. In December, it was made available on the German app Toggo, aimed at children aged 2 to 14. Netflix will launch the show this spring.

"The terrestrial rights will be available at the beginning of 2023, that's why we give it a promotional and commercial character focus during the Rendez-Vous d'Unifrance", explains Morgann Favennec, Managing Director of Distribution at Xilam. "We received extremely positive initial feedback at Mipcom."

"Karate Sheep" was made in the CGI hub that Xilam created in Angoulême, which is completed in 2021 "Oggy Oggy" for Netflix.

Xilam employs more than 500 people, including 400 artists, with studios in Paris, Lyon, Angoulême and In Vietnam.

The company is one of the leading animation distributors in France. In 2022, season 2 of "Where is Chicky?", produced by its subsidiary Cube Creative, was nominated for the Unifrance TV Export Trophies in the animation category.

Xilam CEO Marc du Pontavice says 70% of the studio's revenue is now linked to the banner work. In 2022, Netflix has ordered two new "Oggy" series, with first-window rights.

"Zig & Sharko" is another flagship title from the company. At Rendez-Vous d'Unifrance, Xilam launches "The Adventures of Bernie", a spin-off of "Zig & Sharko", which focuses on Zig's best friend, the hermit Bernie. A new season of "Zig & Sharko" is in production.

Xilam is currently producing "Lupin's Tales" season 2, about a brash cub, for Youku Alibaba in China and in France Télévisions, following the strong audiences for season 1 in both territories. The company has also made a series of short films, "Lupin on a Mission", which will air during the Chinese New Year holiday, starting January 22.

At the Rendez-Vous d'Unifrance, Xilam is also presenting season 2 of the burlesque comedy "Mr Magoo ".

"'Mr Magoo' is a hit in France where it is broadcast by France Télévisions", says Favennec . "It was also extremely successful in other territories, such as the UK, broadcast by CITV, and Canada, broadcast by Radio Canada, to name just a few of the pre-buyers for the new season." /p>
