Yes, we're getting a third Knives Out movie from Netflix

Once the "Glass Onion" credits wrap, you might find yourself craving for another Benoit Blanc mystery, with Daniel Craig as the titular detective chewing up the scenery everywhere. And we have good news for you: Netflix has already agreed to make a third film. In March 2021, the streamer bought two sequels to the 2019 original "Knives Out." According to Variety, Netflix paid $450 million for the pair.

The question remains of exactly what "Knives Out 3" will be about, and director Rian Johnson admitted in a recent interview that he's about to start to figure that out. In an interview published by The Playlist on November 21, Johnson admitted that he originally wanted to take a break and do something different between the second and third films, but now that he's here he feels too excited about the possibilities.

"I thought it would be healthy to do something completely different first, but I'll be honest with you, after that the thing that excites me the most creatively right now is understanding what this third movie can be," he explained. "For me, that's really exciting. I start thinking about the other ideas I have in my drawer and I keep coming back to yes, but what could be the next mystery? I do not know. Right now I'm just trying to follow my nose as to what I'm doing next. Right now that leads me to us jumping into the third one and seeing how totally different it can be from both "Knives Out" and "Glass Onion." How it can show the audience how big these are and really surprise them a third time. It's a pretty fun challenge."

Craig will return as White, but otherwise the cast and setting are anyone's guess. "Knives Out" centers on a wealthy New England family, while "Glass Onion" is about a group of friends visiting their tech CEO pal on a private island. If we had to guess, the third movie will also be set in a ridiculously expensive location, but that doesn't...
