Our mothers are extraordinary people in our lives. Personally, my mother was the beacon of my life. When she died, my life changed forever. There were no more hugs after a day of school, no more celebrations at birthdays, and no more words of encouragement after failing a test. In my pain, God met me. I miss my mother every day, but I can always pay tribute to her through my memory.
Maybe you’re a new mom or want to honor your own mom. Rather than neglecting yourself or the other moms in your life, choose to turn to the Bible. The Bible can help moms feel valued, loved, and needed. The Word of God contains only the truth; there is therefore no reason to doubt it. For example, when the Bible says that we are the children of God (1 John 3:1), then this means that we are truly the children of God.
Let go of all negative thoughts and challenge yourself to see yourself as God sees you. You are a beloved mom, a strong sister and a wonderful wife. Let God’s Word lift you up today. Here are 7 Bible verses to encourage and honor mothers.
“For you have created my innermost being; you have woven me in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are your works, I know that” (Psalm 139:13-14).
You are fearfully and wonderfully made. What does this mean in your own life? Are you in full possession of this blessing? You were not created through negligence; instead, God created you for a specific purpose. The woman He created you to be is a strong, courageous, independent wife and mother. Trust God and allow Him to shape who you are rather than the voices of the world.
“For we are the work of God, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).
What are the voices in your head telling you right now? Are they saying you’re a mistake? Unfortunately, many of us have difficulty accepting this thought. Rather than feeding on it, we need to remember that we are God’s workmanship. The New Living Translation says that we are God’s masterpiece. Consider this truth for a moment.
You are God’s work, masterpiece and craftsmanship. It gives the image that you are beautiful, amazing and wonderful. Never doubt your worth in the eyes of God. He has special plans for your life. You cannot carry out these plans if you continue to have negative feelings about yourself; this is why you must move forward in faith.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; submit to him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight. » Trust what He says about you, not the world. Changing your perspective to think about God instead of the lies of the world can radically change your life and equip you to become the wife and mother God created you to be.
3. Song of Solomon 4:7
“You are quite beautiful, my darling; there is no fault in you” (Song of Solomon 4:7).
As women, it is extremely common for us to have a negative opinion of ourselves based on our appearance. I struggled with the appearance of my nose. He looked different from the others, which automatically made me think he was ugly. I had to grow in Christ before I fully embraced my appearance. God says I am beautiful just the way I am – and He says the same thing about you.
Song of Solomon 4:7 shows us this truth; we are beautiful in the eyes of God. Ultimately, God’s opinion of us is the only one that matters. Rather than listening to the insults of others, we must trust what God says. Since he says we are beautiful, then we are beautiful. What an incredible blessing to know our Lord and Savior!
“Then God said, “Let us make men in our image, in our likeness, that they may have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle and over all wild animals, and over every creature that moves on the earth. So God created humanity in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:26-27).
In the beginning, God created man and woman. Despite the patriarchal world we live in, God never said men were superior to women. God created men and women equal, because we are both created in the image of God. Don’t listen to the lies of the world that say you’re not good enough, that you can’t do things as well as men, or that you were created solely for the purpose of marrying and having children. God says you are enough, you can do amazing things, and He created you for a greater purpose.
You are created directly in the image of God. This means you reflect their creativity, their character and their heart. Find joy and comfort in this truth when you feel weak and tired. God doesn’t want you to think that you are less than others because He created everyone equal. We are all created by the same God and we are loved in his eyes (Romans 8:37-39).
5. Esther 4:14
“For if you remain silent at this time, help and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have attained your royal position for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14).
God created you for a special purpose, just like He did with Esther. Don’t run away from your goal, run towards it. Use the blessings, gifts, talents, and abilities the Lord has given you to serve Him. Let this truth encourage and honor you.
“For in Christ all the fullness of the Godhead lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been made to the fullness. He is the head of all power and authority” (Colossians 2:9-10).
Whenever we struggle with not feeling good enough, we need to reflect on God’s Word. From Colossians 2:9-10we understand that we are complete in Christ. This means that we lack nothing. So there is no reason to believe that we are not good enough, since we are complete in Christ. Anyone or anything that tries to tell us otherwise is a liar. You are an extraordinary mother, wife and friend.
“For the Spirit that God has given us does not make us timid, but gives us power and love and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7).
What emotions are you currently experiencing? Fear, doubt or insecurity? Transform these feelings with the Word of God. From the moment you placed your faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit dwelt in you. The Holy Spirit does not bring negative feelings into your heart; instead, He gives you power, love and self-discipline.
Let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit and find joy in His presence. Whenever you face difficulties, talk to him and ask for his help. Don’t underestimate what the Holy Spirit can do in your life. He will encourage you, equip you with strength, and ensure that you grow in Christ.
