The Center for AI Standards and Innovation Tuesday agreements announced with Google Deep spirit, Microsoft And That of Elon Musk xAI which will allow the US government to assess artificial intelligence models before they are available to the public.
CAISI, which reports to the U.S. Department of Commerce, “will conduct pre-deployment assessments and targeted research to better assess AI capabilities at the border and advance the state of AI security,” according to a statement.
The announcement builds on that of CAISI previous partnerships with OpenAI And Anthropic starting in 2024, the center said. These agreements were renegotiated to reflect the Secretary of Commerce’s CAISI guidance. Howard Lutnick and the US AI Action Plan, according to the release.
Beyond the CAISI announcement on Tuesday, the White House has considered creating a new AI working group that would explore potential oversight procedures, including plans to vet models before they are made public, CNBC confirmed.
The working group would bring together various tech industry executives and government officials, according to a source familiar with the discussions who asked not to be named because the details are confidential. The group can be created by decree.
The White House told CNBC that discussions of possible executive orders were speculation and that any policy announcements would come directly from the president. Donald Trump.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei met with senior Trump administration officials to discuss the Myth at the White House just a few days after its announcement. This meeting took place even after the Department of Defense declared Anthropic as a supply chain riskmeaning the company would threaten U.S. national security.
The White House and Anthropic called the meeting “productive.”
