4 cops charged in connection with raid that killed Breonna Taylor

The US Department of Justice has taken an important step in the investigation into the police raid that led to the murder of Breonna Taylor... charging several officers involved that day and in the events that followed .

United States Attorney General Merrick Garland on Thursday announced charges against four former and current Lousiville cops. Charges include unconstitutional use of force, unlawful conspiracy, civil rights violations and others.

Brett Hankison, a former detective, allegedly "deliberately used excessive and unconstitutional force...when he fired his service weapon into Taylor's apartment through a covered window and a covered glass door."

Ex-Detective Joshua Jaynes, Detective Kelly Goodlett and Sergeant Kyle Meany have been charged with submitting a false affidavit to search Breonna's apartment and then preparing a "false cover story in the purpose of escaping responsibility for their role in preparing to substantiate an affidavit containing false information."

It was March 2020 when officers stormed Breonna's apartment during a forced entry, shooting and killing the ER tech.

Hankison had previously been charged in connection with Breonna's death...but those charges were later dropped.
